Please be my strength

While running a marathon you don't sprint the whole time but in a short race you run...

AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

That has been our philosophy this month. We have two months until our move and we have been sprinting... full speed. In three days, this weekend, I worked a weeks worth of hours.

Phew!

Today I worked 6 hours, took the subway straight to my second job and worked another 8 hours while running on 4 hours of sleep.

At the restaurant...

I forgot to bring my table waters (yikes!)

I didn't notice a few tables (sorry guys!)

I kept zoning out.

People were concerned.

One of my coworkers (a total angel) made me an iced coffee that REALLY helped (Thanks!)

One rolled all of my silverware (Thanks!)

One made me the most delicious grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had (Thanks!)

I even got a shoulder rub! (Thanks!)

I'm telling you about my day, not to be dramatic, but to explain my level of being worn out. Today was... trying.

Yes. I was grumpy.

I started talking to these two really nice gentlemen at my table and they asked me if I'm from Philly. I mentioned that I moved from Michigan and will be moving again soon.

OF COURSE I mentioned Guatemala!

Its important to note that 99% of people I tell about Guatemala say "Awe you're so sweet" and the conversation ends.

These two kept listening to me go on... and on... and on.

They asked about Story International and the new house parent move at the orphanage.

They wanted to know why Guatemala had impacted me so much.

I shared the blog with them.

We chatted for quite a long time and it lifted my spirits SO much.

I thought

"What a gift God, thank you. I really needed to have my spirits lifted!"

I went to clean off my (nearly) last table of the night and saw their receipt.

God shows up through people when I least expect it and need it most.

"Every now and then we all need a really good friend."

That was me today. Thanks guys!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

All week I was listening to this song on my breaks and while commuting. I was totally wiped out a few times and thought "I can't make it through this week!"

I prayed over and over:

"Please be my strength because I don't have any more." "Its your love that's keeping me."

My heavenly father has come through every time I have called on him.

He has given us the opportunity and ability to work for Guatemala.
